#200 To the Dragon Slayers: Charlie Kirk, the Dragon and a Call for the Church to Shine

What does the Christian do when the world doesn't realize there is a spiritual enemy amongst us? We warn of the danger and proclaim Christ's victory from the rooftops!

There is much to have grief over: the death of a brother for standing on the truth, the slander and scoffing that his family received in the wake of the tragedy, and the very obvious divide between groups of people who all claim to follow and pledge allegiance to Jesus Christ. How do we recover? We die. Christian, you were left on this earth to die. Jesus, from His own mouth, defined what it meant to follow Him (Matt 16). It is time the American church no longer be a glorified soup kitchen but an outpost of Heaven where darkness can't hide. Love, protect, shepherd, have compassion and seek the face of the Lord together. Charlie Kirk will be called many names. On this episode, we call him a dragon slayer. Let us join him.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Black and blurred. Hi, that's Darren. It's me. I'm Brandon. Then this is episode 200.

Yay.

I know we don't have a well, we really haven't done this well to be honest with you, you know, to malt of a week is the least to say the least. In addition to the tragedies of last week. I've just been down and out, been sick. Talani and I got sick. And it always translates as the boys had a runny nose. And then they're better. 12 hours later with full energy and we've got some debilitating disease and we're bedridden and they just want to do the most. But here we are. Episode 200 as black and blurred, and we set out to do this podcast because we were enamored with. What seemed to be a joke? Of so many people having a false understanding of the gospel, the purpose of the church and then. What a black person is. I guess you know, you know, that seems random and weird, but. And we were enamored in it, stuck in this loop of misinformation and blurred understanding of personhood and ethnicity, and how that is tied in with the gospel of Jesus Christ, the King of glory. And we were in a. Context of Christians. Who thought exalting ethnicity? Is exactly what he was hoping we'd do.

Hmm.

As Christians here. And we already knew the toxic and the poison behind that ideology. Because we are black. Right. We grew up black. And we've, you know, I think the most prominent of the ideas that were were was easy to push against was the idea that white Americans are exclusively and intrinsically racist. What are you doing?

Looking at this walkthrough, I mean this. Uh.

Oh. That, but that's the most obvious one that white people, you know, you have the CLM stuff going on. You had critical theory that was making its way to mainstream. And the churches and the pulpits. And it was dividing congregations because it was saying, though, that Guy Jesus's blood may unite you in some cool little, you know, superficial way, the real thing that would bring unity is you white people bowing down and saying sorry. And it seemed that well-intentioned. Compassionate white Americans. Thought that that was the key. Hey, we will bow down quite, quite literally some of them. We will bow down.

Without a beer.

Say.

Some of it was out of fear. Some was out of. Real conviction, I don't know.

Right. That's. I'm sorry. That's right. I meant to say that. Yeah. Sorry. So, yeah, some of them just bullied into it, afraid into bowing down to say this is what will bring true unity. And this is a display of the true gospel. Me on my white knees.

Yeah.

That won't reflect the ash. And bowing down to my black brothers and sisters. Ohh. I don't mean that in the black way. But. And then over a few years, I think people started to realize. The bowing down didn't change anything. Ohh yeah. Oh wait a second.

Got worse. Ohh man.

No, it didn't change. And we're going to traverse to a good amount of these things. And and I I would actually like to be able to traverse through our podcast also too, but. I'm. I'm I'm. Doing this quick little look back because. This past week we've experienced. The full grown seed. Of the things that we have been fighting against. That seed being. The death. Of a prominent Christian. Who is not only not seen as a prominent Christian, he's seen as a disgusting white man. And then also the subsequent threats, either aggressive or passive, against people who choose not to see him. As a disgusting white man. And then you know, the social jousting begins where people. Status and they'll drop this bar and you drop this bar. And I think Christians really should just continue to live their lives. If you do it on social media. Just live your life on social media, do it fearlessly and you don't engage in the frivolous, stupid, erroneous discussions. Uh. But I think that as content creators. It's. It is, uh. It's a burden of ours. To address what is happening because it's so. Grieve worthy. It's something to grieve over. And so this is our first episode. Even though this episode 200 is our first episode since Charlie Kirk's murder. In his public execution. And there's much to grieve over since then. Having seen it. Witnessed it. And then witness the callous. Responses. As a result of it. Callous, either directly or passive aggressively. And then watching the fighting in the feuding happen. You know afterwards everything else. Now obviously I I like, you know, we might address things that non Christians do, but when it comes down to the frustrations that we address on our podcast, it never has to do with the frustrations of non Christians. That's why Christians are left on the earth. To be a light of the world to non Christians and non Christians are in the dark. It's professing Christians. Who are seeming to have more fun in the dark?

Yeah.

Then in the light and I think. If there's probably. A common thread to this that connects Charlie Kirk. To what I'm about to say now, it would be this. If we were to ask. For the Christians that I just said, professing Christians that seem to have more fun in the dark. To convince us, hey, why? Why you're actually in the light and it's us that's in the dark. I want to hear from you. But maybe I'm wrong. Convince us on why it is that that it's us that's in the dark and and you're in the light. I want to hear your. It would not be a conducive conversation. It would not be. That conversation would not be conducive to peacefulness and logic and rationale. We would probably be slandered. We'd be scoffed at in the same way that people do in our DM's now. Uh, you know, and I think. That beautiful thing that Charlie Kirk was doing was just that. As the hateful man that he was, apparently he was willing to have conversations with people. Who hated him? Yeah. And I think that's what ultimately got him killed. Because. Rationale is not the weapon. Of those who don't like rationale and don't love the truth. And it grieves me to see Christians. Taking up that mantle, I saw you shake your head. I'm talking about his willingness to be out in the open.

Oh.

Ohh yeah, to engage people. We're gonna deal with dark stuff in, in, in the following episodes. But. So yeah. So like I said, I'm sorry. Not like I said, sorry. I'm gonna be a bit flustered because though we have a bit of a, a little skeleton of the outline, it's really. You know. Just letting the Lord lead the discussion, to be honest with you. So let's let's rehash not to make people live through it again, but we haven't talked about it from our own perspective. What was your individual react? In real time as we record this, we're not that far away from it. This is the following week.

Yeah, about a week away. Less than a week, right?

Yeah, less than a week, yeah.

Four days.

Was your individual reaction right?

Yeah, we, I mean I've I got a text message from my father saying that Charlie Kirk. Was shot. UM. And I was working. And obviously you know. It's not something that my father would make up or anything, so I assumed it was true. I told Halen you just. Holly was kind of like what in the world? I just started praying. And then I looked up. What happened? Because there wasn't, there wasn't a video yet. There was news that he got shot and then the video came out a few minutes later.

Mm-hmm.

And then my friend, under some weird Twitter link, sent me the video. I mean, that's not something I would have sought out to go look at. Yeah. And I'm looking at this video like man, I hope this is fake. I hope this isn't real. Because looking at the video, it's not survivable. Right. And so yeah, I just waited till news came out and then they just reported that he died.

Right.

I'm thinking what in the world, yeah. Like, I've never felt, you know, I don't see him as like a celebrity or something.

Yeah.

And it's, you know, what's crazy is that I kind of know Charlie Kirk threw Candace Owens, which is kind of backwards because Kirk put Candice Owens on.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So it's like I I kind of went backwards and watching Candice Owens. And then watching, I think I'm a more mature Christian and Charlie Kirk and Candice Owens kind of just was a conservative.

MHM.

Then she's kind of in a baby Christian phase where she's trying to find her way. To truth, yeah. But Charlie Kirk is there. And so it's refreshing to hear some of the stuff he had to say. Yeah. And a lot of it is, it was refreshing to hear because it's what Christians are craving in their churches.

MHM.

You know, they would love for their passers to. Be just as. Bold and just as guided by their convictions and unapologetic and afraid to say and unafraid to say them because they're true, and because they're and not their true.

Because it's true.

Yes.

It's it's, it's truth that's been revealed to us through the script.

Yeah, yeah.

And so you can tell that Charlie Kirk didn't hold it have, like, a pride about it. UM. He shared it pridefully because it was true, but he didn't have a pride in himself about it. He did things that most. Christians would say 9, don't they? I'm going to a ring of liberals and having some debate that seems fruit.

Mm-hmm.

But I think he understood that millions of people would see.

Right.

Those videos. UM. I admired his patience. UM. All those things I you know? Uh, I think about when I think about, like Christian apologists. The people that seem to have the most patience to me, I think about guys like. Jeff Durbin. Even Ravi zacharias. A lot of patients. If I would call him. You said. I know, right, I know.

It's tough, it's tough, but.

I know, I know, I know he lived as a Christian apologist. I don't. You know, I don't really know.

Yeah.

You know. UM. Like you know, William Lane Craig.

Frank Turek, yeah.

They all do a really good job at sharing the gospel, sharing honestly though it may be offensive to people who hear it.

Yeah, we.

That's just the gospel, right? It cuts away at our flesh, and I don't think that's a a flaw of theirs. Or Charlie. That's just a a natural. Reaction to. What's good right when you're in, when you're evil? When you're living a life of sin. You know, light shining on darkness that you know the darkness supposed. To run away, yeah. The darkness can't hide. It has to come out. It starts to come out. So that's a lot of, you know, initially. I mean, I mean, his death was it. MHM. Was. Quick, you know I didn't have. You didn't have time. To. Process that it happened. You saw it. Immediately I thought of his wife. And children, yeah. Prayed for them. Pray for his parents. Uh, any of the students there who witnessed it, you know, just stuff you just can't Unsee. Pray for people like Candace, who knew him very well. And just imagining hearing that news. Yeah, especially doing what she does as well. She's in the same realm. UM. I thought about all those people, you know. Even the people who don't proclaim the gospel as as boldly like Steven Crowder. I thought about Stewart connectedly. I thought about all these guys that just out here.

You are just naming him. You aren't including him as. Who don't proclaim the gospel.

Oh, that's right. No, no. I thought of everybody who's in the public forum.

Yeah, right. Right.

Yeah.

UM. Being courageous and bold about whatever they believe.

Right.

And I also thought about. Man. Are there any liberal Christians that do what Charlie did? Yeah, all my brain just went all the way.

I don't know any.

Down. Yeah, my brain just went all way down this rabbit hole of like, like, who can I pray for? That's a liberal. Progressive, liberal, progressive. I mean, what do you mean?

It's just what is liberal today? What is it you know?

Not a better term. I don't know. I mean, I'd be like it's either conservative or not conservative nowadays. I don't even know.

Yeah.

What that means really anymore. People who would disagree with Charlie politically hold the same faith. Where's that person, right? That's going to college campuses sharing the gospel. You know, welcoming debates.

Yeah.

That person that's risking their life for the gospel because that's probably was doing. Yeah. And his face was downstream. I mean his, his his politics was downstream from his faith. Correct. It informed his political discussion, his political decisions.

Yeah.

Some of it is in the weeds and most people don't even care about. But like the the main moral topics of homosexuality, abortion are very clear, and I think a lot of people are afraid to talk about them. And Charlie wasn't on a on a breeding ground like he's in a college campus where they breed DEI and feminism and homosexuality and abortion, where they teach classes on it. And Charlie Kirk is there saying no, this is not good. Here's why. I don't see that as mean. I don't see that as crass or any other other words fascist, which is just that doesn't mean anything anymore. Am man who has an open form and gives people who doesn't agree with a microphone to speak and disagree as a fascist. That's just not even the definite it's.

Yeah.

A different word.

Delaney and I were. Out hitting golf balls.

All right.

Oh, really? Yeah. We had free time and I've been trying to take advantage of just this season of transition where we could easily be freaking out. I mean, I'm jobless. She's jobless, looking for a job. I'm raising support for the church plant, but God has granted so much grace and peace to be able to enjoy him, enjoy our family. And so, yeah, and she. And, you know, when, you know, if people are familiar with top golf, there are a lot of driving ranges. No, I hate top golf. But, you know, driving ranges are starting to use the top tracer technology now. And Talani likes playing the the. Flying bird. What's it called?

Angry bird.

Angry bird. So that's what we were doing and I got the same text. Actually I did not. I got it from Kevin. Kevin sent me texts of Charlie being shot. And yeah, my heart was in my stomach. And what's so what's so kind of profound about that is? I did. I was not on overload on Charlie Kirk's content. Yeah. I obviously knew who he was, and I knew who he was through. Frank Turk. You know, I've I'm a long time listener of Frank Turk. I'm a super apologetics geek. I've been to Frank Turks cross examine instructors Academy and. So yeah, I Charlie has hosted Frank's podcast. In his absence multiple times. And so in my mind and those people you listed, the people in the political realm that were on the fight of conservativism. Charlie was head and shoulders above them regarding his faith being the reason he has conservative values.

Alright.

That's that's what I obviously knew about Charlie Kirk. UM. And so in the same way that you can get like an argument for Second Amendment from Steven Crowder, you can also get a lot of crass joking on his podcast and things like that. That can you know you Yahoo for the conservative crowd. But Charlie was after. Souls and when the same truth that wins souls wins souls, it doesn't stop there. It also wins arguments and logic. Yeah, that truth is a person. And so it you can continue on and and people can disagree with that but. Matt, let me just stay there real quick. My my heart sunk in my stomach. And it sunk even deeper when I inadvertently saw the video. Somebody sent me a link. With no context, no. Yeah. And knowing that Charlie got shot, I'm looking for an update to see how he's doing because they said that his condition is unknown and it was a video. So in looking at the video.

Thumbnail.

You know, talani saw my entire countenance change. Uh. And so yeah, you know, she said. I told her what you know, they said that Charlie got shot, and she asked me, you know, how's he doing? And I said, well, they don't know, but it's not good. And so cause you you when you watch that.

Yeah.

You know. You know what it is so. That's literally my entire emotion. Throughout the entire time, you know, I continued with Delaney, we finished. And so then to add to that emotion. Was then seeing the responses. I I you know what? It's not naive because I wasn't shocked, but I was caught off guard. That makes sense. I was caught off guard by the feud that broke out.

Yeah, just ensued immediately.

Yeah, as if someone. Pulled some little string and said all right, now dance, puppets and everybody began and I'm trying to be a very honest here. If that headline, said Joe Biden.

Mm-hmm.

I don't think and I'm very confident here, I there's nothing in me that would rejoice.

Yeah.

There's nothing.

I told her the same thing. Yeah.

Yeah, there's nothing in me would rejoice.

Because I mean that a lot of conservatives from the beginning, even watching him decline as a human. Had genuine heartbreak for him. They were abusing this old man.

They're abusing them. But what we are seeing? Is the fruits of a lot of hard work. And it's the fruits and which is why, when when it didn't take long for me to say, hey, I'm tuning out. Because I started to see the back and forth, I start to see the posts happening. And you know, we're, we're tinfoil guys. Proudly, I believe Jesus, who is the creator of tinfoil, would support us, and being tinfoil guys. You remember. I can't remember anything now. Samuel. He he got sick every time he saw somebody bleed or die.

Well, that was a yeah.

What's the movie? I keep want to say, the makers, men say again.

Make it. I said man maketh manners. What's that?

Yeah, marksman. The Kingsman, the.

Kingsman.

No, the kingsman. Yeah. And the kingsman. The big thing was that everybody would have a phone, they'd give out free phones to the people who didn't have phones. You could get a phone. Everybody just has a smartphone and then he would hit some signal that would turn everybody nuts and just keep put, put everybody at war. To try to kill whoever's in front of you. And I'm. I'm not saying that somebody hit some signal. I'm not gonna say it like that. Like, it's not impossible. But I'm not saying that that's what happened, I'm saying. That that movie is a reflection of what our society already is, that the signal is some event, some orchestrated event. But when we who are not. Abiding in Christ, and obviously those who don't know him, can't abide in him. Then we immediately. Take the role that our masters of this world give us. And we take it up gladly. And if you're not gonna kill somebody physically, you'll do it in your heart as you scroll and scroll and scroll and you kill people. You keep killing them. This guy's an idiot. This woman's a stupid person, this one, and you just kill him and kill him and kill him. And with that knowledge, if there is anybody in this world who ought to know. That that is a scheme of Satan. It's the professing believer that not only do you not see people who disagree with us politically, pointing those things out. They take part in.

Alright.

And it's not just people who disagree with us politically. People who do hoist up the mantle of conservativism, they respond with anger and rage, which is a real thing. I was angry. I was an angry in the same for probably the same reasons I expressed that later, but. I still was, was angry. I still AM. But when you realize what your hope is in, that's what comes out. And you're starting to see that. You're starting to see that, like you said, when you shine light on things, the darkness can't hide. And I don't care what anybody's reasoning is. If you're not willing to train other Christians in the way that you responded. To this thing then you probably shouldn't have done it. That's not to say that. If you are willing to train. And you're. Right. But if you are willing to train Christians in responding like you, then you have to have the scriptures with you. But now there's another layer we gotta go into because the work that's been done over many, many decades. Is to disavow a Christian from the scriptures. While still holding the Bible in their hand. Yeah, you know. Uh. I might have just broke. Phone. But people have been able to take this Bible. And make it do whatever they want it to do for a very long time. Yeah. And the author of that. Is the devil. And we have a generation just the 80s and 90s babies. Who are falling away. Or are on fire for the Lord. And it's very obvious which one is which.

Yeah.

They're falling away and they're dead in their sins, and they think they're not dead in their sins because they grew up in church and they've been around the church and they speak Christianese. And man, they're dead in their sins. And that's a that's a deeply. Heartbreaking reality. I want to play a quick. Clip clip that addresses something that you said. Because you gotta deal with these name calling things. I I'm one. We're just, we're doing podcast stuff here. This is a podcast we're gonna do podcast stuff. Neither one of us are concerned with what people think about us. Neither one of us are concerned with whether or not you know. People want us to agree with Charlie Kirk or disagree it, you know. I don't care. Yeah, this is episode 200. If you are on episode 200 and you think we care what you want us to do, man, you this must be your first episode. Welcome. Welcome. But I wanna play. I wanna play something. Uh, man, I knew I was going to forget her name, but this is a journalist. Let me try to find her name. Melanie Phillips. Let's just listen to what she says.

Truth has become a right wing concept. You cannot say it because if you say it, you are considered right wing and to be right wing is to be in league with the forces of evil. It is a Manichean division between. Ideologies. Of one kind or another. And those who don't subscribe to those ideologies and the ideologists brook no dissent. Because they represent in the minds of people who promote them. They represent. Goodness, brotherhood of man progress reason. Education. And anyone who opposes them is against all good things, so they are not just wrong. They're not people to be argued with. They're people to be removed and silenced, because otherwise you're against all good things. So it's it's that division between good and evil, and unfortunately, you know, if you stand up against an ideology like, I don't know. So-called anti racism which basically says all white people are. Bad.

Pretty cool theory.

A critical theory or you stand up and say a woman is defined by her biology, her against transgender. So as you know it's there's no discussion. You are cancelled, you are removed. You have to be silenced. This dissent cannot be permitted.

It's almost hard for us to actually remember what we've gone through. Just take the last 10 years. The last 10 years. Man, don't make it 20, but slowly but surely you know you can be a member of your church. And be in a meeting. And someone mentioned the fact that. A man can be a woman. And you're looking around like. What type of twilight zone? Thing is this.

Like the holy Nope. Got my Bible.

Body. Yeah. You wanna go worship the Lord today? But but you. But you you can't start there, there.

Right, yeah.

That's why we didn't. Where do we have to start? We had to start.

I know.

With slavery, right? And when you take something that is historical, like slavery. You can be more clever and you can use slate of hand with your deception. That first beginning deception is all of the. Teaching. And the pedagogues that trumpet from the rooftops that the worst thing in human existence is the slavery that was handed down by the youngest country in the world. That's that's one of the first slate of hands. That's the worst thing in history. American slavery and then from there you shave that down into, say, and it was perpetrated by only. The white skinned people in this country. And we will ignore that they had to do a business transaction with someone. Somewhere. And we'll just continue to shape that narrative over time. Yeah, we'll shape that narrative overtime until we raise generations of embittered hate filled people.

This part.

And will need them to become teachers. And authors. That the only thing going for us was the existence of churches. Now. Churches joined in.

Hmm.

What she'd say. She said, you know, if you, you know, stand up and say anything to to the contrary of white people are the only evil people or whatever it is, you know, then you're seen as a problem. We felt that first hand.

Right.

You're in a church, the pillar and buttress of truth. Harbingers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we allowed for this demonic teaching to flood in our pews, and you had Christians or professing Christians fighting for it. Waging war on you to shut up. And let it happen. Preachers who cowered. And started regurgitating things they were reading in books and blogs and not spending time pouring over the scriptures to learn what the Scriptures say. That they've been saying for millennia. So yeah, we allowed for this kind of. Caricature of a truth teller. And you know, you and I talked about this in very early episodes. Remember when they they made it a a slanderous term to be a truth teller, you truther.

Yeah, that's wild, man.

Ohh, are you one of those troopers? What an interesting thing. How right before our eyes, the devil. Can take off his wig and make up and still have on the pointy ears with the red S. And then people start saying, well, look, you know. The sun? Really. Is abrasive against his skin, so he needs to wear the red suit. So, wait, wait, what are we even talking about right now?

That's the devil.

Oh.

What are we talking about right now? So the damage had been done. And I and I and I'm highlighting these things because a part I I don't. I don't want to. Speak for other people here. But a part of myself was I mourned. For. The loss of. Of vibrant church in this country. It's time. We can say that now we've lost a vibrant church in this country. Are there still a lot of churches? In the country, yeah.

Mm-hmm.

Umm, but we've lost the vibrancy. It's filled with cowardice and people are being discipled in cowardice. I think it's time for Christians to recognize that. Because what a truth teller is. Exclusively. Is one who has a relationship with the truth. You know, there are people who don't know Jesus who can tell the truth.

But.

For for the benefit of what I'm the. Point I'm trying to. Make they aren't, but aren't they aren't ontologically truth tellers. They're borrowing from God's truth. And they're utilizing it and praise God for that. But Christians are supposed to be inherently truth tellers. Because of our relationship with the truth and we have compromised on so many truths. Big and small. So that if you tell the truth. You'll be shamed. And I think it's time for Christians to stop fighting. Against being shamed. And to wear it gladly now. Anybody who wants to live. A godly life. Should be willing to wear it gladly. Now. That's where we are. Before we move on, I do want to highlight the fact that we were seeing people post. As if they had some obligation to post. I don't know how many post I saw with this, like very negative disclaimer where for now the first people I saw were Kamala.

Yeah. No, that's so odd.

What's the guy's Handmaid's tale? He's a politician, but you always call him. A Handmaid's tale dude.

Justin Trudeau.

Ohh no, not him. Who's the other guy? Gavin. Gavin newsom.

Even you?

Yeah.

I saw them first like clockwork. Now that, that, that that starts to turn my tinfoil hat. But like clockwork, I saw them. I don't condone any violence on either side. I don't condone any violence on either side. But then the next ones I started just to see from people. People I'm talking about people out in the ether of the Internet, people that I know who would post these very passive aggressive, hateful responses in the wake of this, this tragedy. Like, I didn't really like Charlie Kirk or I disagree with his politics or I don't know. And then it's like. You know, either he's an image. Bearer of God or. Uh.

It's not. It's not right to kill anyone, but.

Yeah, it's not right to kill anyone or our wife lost. You know, some. Something of the sort. You know, you started seeing it. You just everywhere. That type of cadence. Really. I don't like him. I don't like him. But.

What's odd is that people are saying we're saying it as. If. It was original. They think they're being original and that's what really got me. It's like, man, this like this. This brainwashing. People are literally saying the same exact words.

Right. Yeah.

Even the Christians, they might throw a little bottle of us at the end. But it's the same words like, you know, he was a Christian, but. I didn't agree with this or I didn't agree with that. But you know, he was a father. I didn't agree with this, but.

Yeah.

You know, no one should be killed. Like, say something really obvious. Duh, duh. It's immoral kill somebody. Thank you so much for your enlightenment. Well, it just shows us how far away we are from just biblical foundational principles of Christianity.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah.

The identity of a Christian well, like I said, Dan, the damage has been done right. The damage has been done because. Even you and. Your wife should be at odds, she a white girl. You a sellout. As far as this world is concerned. You you are Uncle Tom. You don't have no real community. Right. Christ can't fix that. To all the people who were preaching from their pulpits because they want people to come to their church to find hope and deliverance and community. But before you come through that door, you best. Dropped that white knee on the ground. And those instructions might even come. From a white boy.

Right, right. I know how insane is it?

The damage has been done. The redeemed identity of a Christian that comes in Christ who. Is a new creature. The oldest passed away. Behold the newest come not in this world. The old store there. And you got some apologizing to do for it. And guess what? Your apologies. Ain't gonna help. Apology not accepted. Apology not accepted.

Do it anyway. Yeah, stupid.

And so now the people who see that and call it out are enemies. And so this is a plea. Go ahead. What are? You gonna say?

Just thinking back, like in in real time, we're experiencing a lot of crazy stuff in our lifetime. COVID in real time, there's people saying whoa. Church. Yeah, we can't be like this.

Yeah.

Either we believe we have a we serve the creator of the universe, or we don't.

And they don't. That's the that's reality. They don't believe it.

That's, you know, I mean like. It's like either we believe that we serve. Or that we have hope in Christ, or we don't. We have hope, and something else here we are. And now we move 5-6 light years down the road, and the consequences of the actions are there. Yeah. And here the people are who were called crazy and truthers and blah, blah, blah conspiracy theorists. They aren't vindicated.

Right.

Just stuck with the consequences of the church listening to the world. And here we are again. Like whoa, guys, stop watching CNN. Something at this Fox News. Stop getting your news from social media. Basically. Read your bibles.

Yeah. Yeah, man.

Of reading these other authors that write about the Bible. Or their perspective on this, any social issue stop this DEI stuff? Well, there's good stuff in DI. Well, if there's good stuff in dei, they stole it from the Bible. Read the Bible.

Yeah.

And now people didn't listen. The church didn't listen. And here we are. We hate each other more than we ever have.

Yeah. Right.

And those people are who said watch out, they're not vindicated.

They're not vindicated.

We're just stuck with the church I, Paul.

Yeah, a bunch of immature sheep or non sheep. Bunch of goats, a bunch of goats and wolves.

Right, wolves. Yeah. Yeah.

And they're being discipled by other goats and wolves. And this is the fruit. This is the fruit. And so the Christian, you no longer need to seek vindication. I I think it was who somebody posted this and I reposted it. And I want to say it's the post. Uh. Post militant. Christian or something like that, post militant Christian.

Oh yeah, I'm good. Yeah.

And it said that we're continuously seeking validation from a world that killed the perfect man.

Right.

The perfect man walked the earth and guess what they called him a glutton. A drunkard. A liar. A blasphemer. The Scoffers scoffed, and they were wrong. And guess what? The ones who did, who are the ones who are dead, they now know they're wrong. But you're. Not gonna realize. How long they are until you die. And you're either going to know they're wrong because you're in glory. With the one they call the. Glutton. Or you're gonna. Know they're wrong because you're with them. And we're out here playing games. Dropping little one liners not willing to have conversation, you're dropping little one liners like. Oh yeah, you can't call them holy if he practice hate. These these these tweets and this we don't even care to actually win people over to our arguments. We have this podcast because we are explicitly telling you we don't want you to have to guess with what we think. You know what we think and guess what? I think that if you disagree with what we think, you're wrong. And if you think you're right. Bring us to your side convincingly, but you will need a Bible. I'm not interested in your thought. I'm not even interested. In my own. We think that the Bible is true, and if you're using your Bible to say, hey, look in this in the wake of this tragedy, even though I didn't know this man personally and I'm not connected to it, personally, I think I do need to post this. You know what, I don't really like the way he talked, but you know it's wrong. He died. You know what? I don't even like the way that he talked about transgender stuff. But it's wrong. He died. Hey, I don't. Even like the fact that he's a Republican, but it's wrong. He died. What? What's compelling you to post that?

Right. Why don't you go to your father?

Narcissism.

Why don't you go to your father in? Prayer. What makes?

You think that we need your thought.

Vanity social media creates vanity and creates narcissism where everyone needs to know what you think. And you're being slow to speak can. You hear me? I can. Ohh. It's lower the speed.

I wouldn't reaction.

No, look, what the heck is wrong with him? I'll just bro being Florida speak is lost. Everyone has to be first. Wow.

Everybody has to be first.

I've seen even more evil things from Christians like I mean. I guess he was a victim of what he was talking about just before he died. He talked about gun violence and how, you know, it's necessary to keep the second.

Yeah. Amendment Yeah, what a naive, childlike, dead hearted response.

Right.

Right. Because the ultimate death is a death at the hands of what he created.

Right. And there's many times, man, there's many times. Got it gives me chills just thinking. About. It I watched about 10:50 different videos of Charlie Kirk recognizing. That he could be killed.

Yeah.

And the joy on his face when saying it.

Yeah.

Him and his wife on a podcast recognizing. That to live as Christ die is gain. Saying that often. Yeah. Like that's what? That's what the courage is. What do you think is you know, it's just a fear of backlash. People's words. No. The courage comes from knowing that it might cost me my life.

To die is gay. Right. Right. Yeah.

But who am I? It cost Christ his.

Yeah, right. And he willingly knew that's the cost and paid it. And he did it for his enemies, his enemies.

Right.

The ones scoffing, the ones pointing up at him whilst hanging on the cross, naked and bloodied and them saying oh oh Oh yeah. You said all that stuff. Why don't you go ahead and get up there from the cross now? Why don't you get down from the cross? And as Essam Lockard said, he knew that getting up out of the grave was far greater than getting down from across, and the Christian ought to know that going into a grave is far greater than staying out of one.

Right.

Because of the life that we live after the grave and there are so many professing Christians to seem like that is lost on them today. You want to. Argue about Second Amendment stuff. Guess what? Juries, you know the the. The verdicts out me and Darren. Like guns. Yeah. Can we not worship the Lord now? Because your preachers are on your news channels and they're telling you that you should hate us, have you felt compelled by any of us to go? Out and buy. A gun or you're a bad Christian. Have you felt compelled to have to carry weapons or you're not going to be loved and cared for by us when you're in our vicinity, in our homes? Because I have felt vice versa.

Right.

I've been to Christian conferences left-leaning. Nonetheless 1 was CDA. In Chicago 2020 16/20/17 and the Mayor of Chicago was invited. People would call that nationalistic. I don't. It's in Chicago. Invite the mayor's great on him. When he called gun owners child murderers. And I had to have a conversation with my siblings, who we went to this conference together with in the dispute on why I'm not going to throw away my guns out of fear of being hated by people. Here we are to Christian. Conference, I mean, I'm almost losing it now. It's lost on people what Jesus shed his blood for. It's lost on them because they've been discipled like you said, by their phones and their televisions, and they think that there's true vindication and listening to this podcast and just calling us some names and sending us some memes and continually sending DM's and all this other stuff. Do they not realize? That dragon Slayers probably Daydream about the day where they die. Mm-hmm. They dream about it. Not without fear. We're not non human. I have daydreaming moments when somebody kicks in. The door trying to. Harm my family. Not because I dream about people harming my family, but there's something wired in me dreaming about being able to die protecting them. I Daydream about it. That's lost on Christian men today. Because there is this thick sheet. Of passive gayness. That is just cloaking everything. And it conceals the beauty of Christ. And who he was as Lord. And as a man. Standing in the gap between those who may accept deceit and the deceiver willingly standing in that gap, and now you see Christian men doing that, and they do it to scoffs. And jokes. And guess what? Ask me if Charlie cares, Dan.

He definitely doesn't now.

He don't care. So now to the rest of the group, to our listeners, to our podcast listeners. To the dragon slayers. The rest of this episode is to you. I know you're looking at the time, like the rest. We're not. I'm not going to try to make it too long, but I'm just letting you know. I'm directing this to you. Because that's what we are. Dragon slayers. Whenever I'm going to preach, do a Bible study. Whatever it is, and Parker is. Always like Daddy are. You leaving? I'm like, yes, the. Where are you going? And I always tell him I'm. Going to go fight the dragon. And he always says.

Ohh can I come with you? I.

Wanna fight the? Dragon and so because of that something I left out and my reaction, my individual reaction. Was. The reality of what you and I are doing in raising sons. What does it mean to raise children? It means to raise them to find death beautiful. In a myriad of ways. Death of self. Where you look at the person standing across from you as the most significant person in the world. Death to desire, where your flesh will desire things that are both good and not good, and you will need to have discipline enough to say no. I'm not controlled by you. Or death, just physically. Saying that this may take my life, but because it's good, I walk toward it. That's what Dragon Slayers do. And we walk in the identity of the Dragon Slayer. The King of glory. And so when I was downstairs, I came home after hearing about Charlie Kirk. And then also being grieved by listening and watching the fighting on cue that was happening and I. Came down here. And prayed and was weeping man. And you know, it's just. From from our church planning experiences up till now I'm just grieved over the church. Yeah, I I have no problem thinking about the brothers. I've had disputes with Eric, David, Matt, whatever it is about certain things and still saying I think you're wrong about the things that I've said to them. They're wrong about. I don't care about myself. I don't care about being wrong. I just want you to show it to me rather than want me to be quiet about it. I think you're wrong. I think you're wrong to stand in a pulpit and isolate a specific ethnic group in your church because Jesus, his one one of those missions, was to take the nations of the world and bring them back under the umbrella of the name of the Lord. One race, one people. That's gospel fluency. So I was weeping. But when the boys come home, they always come around and they always think I'm hiding in the house when they see my car out front. And they so they go through the house and they try to run around and try to find me. But when? I'm. Down here in the studio in the basement. I just turned the light off from this little switch right above. I don't know if you remember. This light from. Right above the desk. Because if you turn it off from there, you can't turn it on upstairs. Yeah. And so when they see the light isn't on and they try to turn it on.

I can't help but.

And they can't. They don't come downstairs. They don't come looking cause it's too dark and they're scared.

Yeah.

But I tell you this, this day was the first day, and they've been. Doing it since. That day, when Charlie Kirk died. I you know, I seriously. They have tears in my face. But I knew that they love trying to find me. So they came busting the. House they yelling. For me, daddy. Daddy. I turned the light off. And then I heard park at. The top of the stairs, daddy. He just quiet. He ain't come downstairs and then, like, 30 seconds later, all of them come flooding downstairs in the dark. Mm-hmm. And they come. I wasn't even hiding because I forgot they were gonna come downstairs. I'm just sitting right here behind my desk and he come downstairs and say, oh, I got you. And then the first thing he says was. Were we braved at? And man, that broke me again because I'm like son. Yeah, you were brave.

Well.

And I think about the fact that what we're doing on our podcast, what we fight for in church ministry, the things that we were grieved over, that we still didn't even know how to fight against the we didn't have the words. To see it. We sat back with whiskey and cigars, praying because we didn't know what to talk about because we were fighting against cowards.

Mm-hmm.

And I'm braising them to do the same thing.

You're raising your wants to do the same thing.

Even if it kills you.

You don't. Give up.

People are gonna send you terrible things, dog. They're screwed. They're screwed off just off top of being our kids, right? Because we would have. A family worship that day and it just happened to be the same day. And so we're dealing with this tragedy and that this, I think a realization hit talani. And so she was, you know, crying while we were playing and singing. And so she was explaining to me after that's like, she realizes just from our time in ministry over the last 11 years and the things that we talk about, both in private and in public. That could easily happen to us. It has nothing to do with celebrity status. It has nothing to do with being popular and so many people loving you has everything to do with. Walking with the king.

Right.

That's what it has to do with. And you come to grips with it. And I'm positive, as you just said, Charlie and his wife had that conflict.

Mm-hmm.

Because when you look at the resolve on this widow's face.

Yeah.

That's a daughter of a king. Uh-huh. Even though people continue to want to tear her down. And I'm telling you. To the people who listen. To this podcast. Uh oh, I think I'm getting a Charlie horse. To the people who listen to. This podcast I've been a real A. Weird Flex dog, you know. And and who are not in Christ, who agree with us our principles and are not in Christ. Maybe you do have anger as you're looking at people, jeer at a widow. I saw a video earlier that someone sent me where there was a girl who was talking like, hey, you need to go ahead and try to kill the wife and the kids too. Don't stop at Charlie. Because the kids are just going to continue on his hate. You need to kill them too. Kill the wife. This is 1 video bro. There are people watching those things and they're enamored by these videos and they're getting angry. Warn my advice to you. Stop watching that stuff.

Mm-hmm.

#2 my advice to you, your conservative ideology and your principles, your love for this country won't save you. Because the evil that you think dwells in the hearts of those people, you watch, it also dwells in your own heart. And only Jesus can cleanse you from that. And the beauty of him cleansing your heart is that he gives you his own. And now your heart starts to break for the people who are dead in their trespasses and live as children of wrath. And they follow with the that they follow the wins of the course of the air. It's so very obvious. But it makes you angry. And I'm not immune to it. Darren's not immune to it. I watch that stuff and I get angry. But now I have a father to cry out to.

Yeah.

We have a father to lay our anger at and lament to. And we trust, and we wait on. Him. Any thoughts? I'm going to read some scripture see.

Yeah, I think you know, the church has gotten far away from its purpose. UM. And the sooner we realize that sooner we can. Purify our churches #1.

The Lord will do that. He's doing it now.

Right. No, I know. Examine our own hearts. But yeah, I mean, I think that. The church exists. Specifically. UM. To glorify Christ. And his grace is what strips us of all the the the wrath that you mentioned, the rebellious nature that we have in our own hearts that exist. Since we're born, yeah, you can either cultivate that by scrolling through social media and hating one another. Or you can try to. And trust your soul and the Lord by going through scriptures and he sanctifies your hearts.

Yeah.

But. This idea of church without evangelism, church without offending people. Church without sharing the gospel is just nothing. And that's why people don't grow. In fact, they grow closer to evil. When your church is afraid. To end their partnership with darkness in their own hearts, you know the leaders and people in the church, they they want to partner with darkness. They don't want to shed light on darkness.

Yeah.

And that's to the detriment of the church, ultimately. And I and I think it's our responsibility. To warn people whether they listen or not.

Yeah, yeah. Faithful. Be faithful. I want to share this clip you're talking about. The church. I want to share this clip that you sent me. That Charlie mentioned about the courageous church.

There's three types of churches. It's the three C's, and we'll go through it, and I'm gonna say this rather bluntly and plainly. You know, my heart, if I offend you, sorry. I guess we're just gonna. We're just gonna be honest. We're run out of time. And I it's politically correct stuff under garbage. OK, so look, #1, let's start with the good, the courageous church. Good pastors. Like, he's doing amazing job pastors that are standing up.

Hey.

For truth now, the courage. This church. Is willing to stand up against government lockdowns in tyranny. The courageous church is willing to instruct their congregation about all the decisions they have to make. How do I marry? Who do I marry? Mary, how do I organize my finances? Who do I vote for? Right. Is it a good or bad thing that I'm gambling? The church must to equip the congregation? The flock with answers about all of these otherwise confusing issues. The courageous church does not care at the New York Times says. The greatest church does not care about what the activists say the. The church doesn't care if people walk out of sermons because you might have said something they don't like. A courageous church does not look at success through budgets and buildings, which the most of the American church does, by the way. Instead, they say how many souls are we winning? Are we proclaiming truth? The courageous churches, the. Vast minority of churches in America.

So I guess that that's evil to say cats. Out the bag, we agree. Yeah. With that a big warning. For us is in the last book of Scripture, revelation. Where you know there's a picture in Revelation 21. Where? I believe it's 2021 or 20. But it talks about the new heavens and the new Earth, and the only reason we can enjoy the new heavens and the new Earth because the thing that destroys heaven and earth sin isn't there. And the people who love sin aren't there. And the first on that list let me see. Here we go. It's 20. 1. Let me just share it. We we're familiar with, you know, the the, the new heavens and the new Earth, and the beauty of it. Verse four. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore. For the former things have passed away. And then you skip down to verse. 8 but As for the cowardly? Faithless.

Hit my toe. Ohh.

Dying here as As for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, As for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death, and my my appeal to you, Christian, is this. If you believe this to be true. Yeah. Who are you out there pulling away from the fiery furnace? Who are you warning? If you believe this to be true. Have you examined yourself to see if your life reflects any of these identities? Because even though a Christian may have moments of weakness where they do cowardly things or faithless things or detestable things, their identity is a St. they are in Christ. A reality that a lot of Christians seem to have forgotten this past week. They didn't seem to forget it in our MLK episode. Yeah, interesting. When the fruit? Frank Turek. An eyewitness to Charlie's life and his death. You should go watch that eyewitness account. Frank Abernathy is an eyewitness to MLK's life and death. He, under his own admission, said the day before he was murdered he was philandering with women and allegedly put his hands on a few of them. Violently. That's Frank abernathy. That's his eyewitness testimony. Only reason I'm bringing that up is because people slandered me. For just relaying it. There seems to be inconsistency. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Ralph abernathy. I'm saying Frank Turek and Ralph Abernathy, and I'm getting the names mixed up. Frank Turek is the Christian apologist who was a mentor and close friend of Charlie Kirk and Ralph Abernathy is a close friend of MLK. That was from Ralph Abernathy's own mouth. His own testimony. And the reason I'm bringing this up is because a lot of the feuding happening online is people who are unwilling to place Charlie Kirk under the banner of Brother St. they're using even colloquial form of Saint A St. is one who is redeemed by Christ. So it's a lot of evil people, evil tweets, evil posts happening by Saints right now. There are also a lot of doublespeak. Posts and tweets tweets happening by. Children of the Dragon who think they're Saints. And when you take the testimony of eyewitnesses in Charlie Kirk's life and you take the testimony of eyewitnesses in MLK's life. You have people who are wanting to categorize Charlie Kirk as one belonging to the cowardly, the detestable, the murderers. And you have people who are slandering us for wanting to bring forth evidence that says I don't actually really care. I'm sorry, I don't actually care where you want to conclude. I just care about the truth and what we're doing in our churches is idolatrous when it comes to MLK. What we're teaching our children is idolatrous when it comes to MLK, and we need the truth. Because a lot of what we're dealing with today, even to this very moment, deals with the poisons that were injected into the civil rights movement. And we need the truth. And people did not seem to actually welcome that truth. It seems that MLK gets to be a redeemed son of God, even though there was no fruit, there was no profession. There was number gospel. There was the exact opposite. There was much. To the contrary. I am not looping these two in the same boat. They definitely are not. But there is. A. A juxtaposition to be made here. And there is not consistency. That's important for you people who are waging your war on Charlie Kirk is a demon. Because if you know that you're not being consistent, you know you don't care about the truth. If you know you don't care about the truth, then it is right for you to have concern for your soul. But going back to verse 8, that cowardly the cowardly is located first, I'm just speculating here. But towards you create environment for not only evil to flourish, but for it to ravage the society and then rest on the couch of cowardice. You allow it to just take up residence. You know it ought not be there. You don't want to do anything about it being there, and you fight against the people who are there to clean it out. It's cowardice. And there can't be a new heaven and new. Earth with cowards. Evil prevails with cowards. Here's another thing that Christians seemed to have forgotten. Professing Christians. And this is my encouragement to you believer to remember. Romans 12 I appeal to you, therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercy or brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. That by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. That is plain.

Yeah, we all know.

And that Greek word to be conformed there. You remember that toy you could probably find in a cracker barrel or something like that. Those spikes and you like, take your face and put it in there. You. Can see it. On the other side, take it. That's what that word means to have the world make that imprint on you.

Mm-hmm.

That the world has a mold of you. That our interaction with you is the world's molding of you.

Mm-hmm.

Don't be conformed. Yet so many professing Christians are gleefully conformed to this world. They don't test anything as a matter of fact, they get mad at us for claiming they should test things. Hey Beyoncé had lyrics about, you know, ripping out pages of her Bible and sticking them in her vagina. What you doing too much?

Huh.

You ain't gotta test that. You just gotta read it. What?

Ohh boy.

And that last statement discern what is the will of God, what is good, acceptable and perfect. That Greek phrase. It literally translates discern what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God.

Hmm.

Because his will is good, acceptable and perfect. Lastly. This kind of heading is marked the marks of a true Christian. Verse 9. Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil? Hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer, contribute to the needs of the Saints, and seek to show hospitality. Bless. Those who persecute you bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep, live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all if possible. So far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourself, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written. Vengeance is mine. I will repay, says the Lord. But to the contrary, if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he's thirsty, give him something to drink for. By doing so, you will weep. You will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. I know that there are people out there taking passages like that and twisting it for their own use, further galvanizing the destruction and the wrath to come in their own hearts. And so it's necessary for the Christian to know what is evil. Because part of those marks of a true Christian is you're abiding in Christ. Your prayer, your. Constant communion, communion with him, and fellowship with him. Do you talk with the Lord? If you even have any question about the people whose accounts you should look at, just look at their accounts. Do they tell you about the Lord at all? I'm not saying that. Are only real Christians evangelize? I'm just saying it's time for Christians to now distance themselves. When it comes down to things that you ingest that when you are around non believers, you are on mission. And you are to be sought and light. You ought to be adopting the characteristics of the people around you. If they're not in Christ, I don't care how much christianese they speak. I don't care how fluent they are in churchianity. We need to know. Abhor what is evil? Do you have a question of whether or not it's evil for mothers to slay their children? For children that have their bodies mutilated at the hands of rational, supposedly rational adults. Do you think that it's evil for our churches to adopt the deceitful lies about sexuality and sexual immorality at the hands of these wicked doctors? Yeah. It's evil. And you had someone going around on campuses talking to children. To try to ****** them from the pit of hell. So where do we go from here? Christians. Go and die. And train your children to do the same. That's where we go. Self denial. Carry across follow Jesus. Teach your children to do the same. Any last thoughts there?

No.

To be in crisis, to be a Dragon Slayer. For as long as the Lord has this world. We're here to slay drag. You slay Dragons as parents in the way that you love your children and raise them in the knowledge and the discipline of the Lord. You also slay Dragons as parents when your children are wayward and they curse you when they slander you and you love them unconditionally and you offer grace to them and are patient with them and you continue to pray you slay. Dragons when you do that. You slay Dragons when you're married to a non believer, yet you continue patiently praying for them to come to know the savior. You also slay Dragons when you're a husband who recognizes that his bride requires sacrificial love. Unconditional love. Requires leading. Requires protection. You slay Dragons when you are a bride, when you know your husband requires respect. Honor godly honor. That you don't adopt the world's principles of tearing men down because you hate the patriarchy you slay Dragons when you know the patriarchy was created by the main patriarch God the father, you slay Dragons. You slay Dragons when you go and confess things to one another, you slay Dragons. When you go in your closet, you confess things to the Lord. You slay Dragons. When you know in secret that people can't see you yet you still live holy. Be dragon slayers. You slay Dragons when people slander you and you bless them and you pray for them. You slay Dragons when you tell the truth. You slay Dragons when you preach to scriptures. You slay Dragons when you preach the gospel. You slay Dragons when you live out the gospel. Because ultimately, our slaying of Dragons is just communicating to the world that the dragon has been slain.

Hmm.

Praise God to the glory of God the father. Continue to slay Dragons. Thank you guys for listening to this episode of Black and Blurred. We are guaranteed to hear one of two things. Our humble opinion holler at us.

Effects.

What scares me about Darren being outspoken is the fact that he could potentially be harmed or even killed for his beliefs. But I'm comforted by God through it all, because Daren is such a good foundation in Christ, and when he speaks, I know it's because God has given him the courage to do so and because people need to hear it.

I thought that the same outcome is possible for Brandon, but God's will is greater. Hear any undesirable outcome. So I just pray that Brandon will continue to stand firm.

Good.

What else you got mate? Why did Adam and Eve eat the fruit?

Because they did not believe what God said.

 …they do not believe.
